Experimental Status of Corrections to Newton’s Gravitational Law Inspired by Extra Dimensional Physics
نویسنده
چکیده
Corrections to Newton’s gravitational law inspired by extra dimensional physics and by the exchange of light and massless elementary particles between the atoms of two macrobodies are considered. These corrections can be described by the potentials of Yukawa-type and by the power-type potentials with different powers. The strongest up to date constraints on the corrections to Newton’s gravitational law are reviewed following from the Eötvosand Cavendish-type experiments and also from the measurements of the Casimir and van der Waals force.

Gravitational Scattering in the ADD-model Revisited
The effects of the condition that the standard model particles live on a thin brane in the ADD-model is investigated. This is shown to result in a cut-off independent Kaluza–Klein propagator for large distance scattering and an odd number of extra dimensions. The matrix element corresponding to this propagator can also be Fourier transformed to position space, giving back the extra-dimensional ...

متن کاملGravitational Scattering in the ADD-model at High and Low Energies
Gravitational scattering in the ADD-model is considered at both suband transplanckian energies using a common formalism. By keeping a physical cut-off in the KK tower associated with virtual KK exchange, such as the cut-off implied from a finite brane width, troublesome divergences are removed from the calculations in both energy ranges. The scattering behavior depends on three different energy...
متن کاملEchoing the extra dimension
We study the propagating gravitational waves as a tool to probe the extra dimensions. In the set-up with one compact extra dimension and non-gravitational physics resigning on the 4-dimensional subspace (brane) of 5-dimensional spacetime we find the Green’s function describing the propagation of 5-dimensional signal along the brane. The Green’s function has a form of the sum of contributions fr...
متن کاملGeodesics and Newton’s Law in Brane Backgrounds
In brane world models our universe is considered as a brane imbedded into a higher dimensional space. We discuss the behaviour of geodesics in the Randall-Sundrum background and point out that free massive particles cannot move along the brane only. The brane is repulsive, and matter will be expelled from the brane into the extra dimension. This is rather undesirable, and hence we study an alte...
